Advanced Irrigation Agriculture, April 8-13, 2002.
Advanced Irrigated Agriculture workshop was conducted in ICWC Training Center from Aprol 8 to 13, 2002.
Overall objectives of the seminar were to promote advanced methods of irrigation and water saving technologies directed to economic use of water in irrigated agriculture. The emphasis was also given to the efficient use of irrigated lands and there were papers devoted to these urgent issues. The specialties of the seminar were that it created exchange of professional opinions between experts from different parts of the region.

The program of the seminar included six sessions and each session was devoted to different topics. The papers presented in each session were initially approved in previous ICWC meetings and relevant ministries from each country, based on the achievement degrees they have reached compared to other neighboring countries, determined the top experts in these fields

Prof., Victor Dukhovny of SIC ICWC played the role the master of ceremony in the opening session. He spoke about the importance of the seminar and said that he looks forward for effective work during the next 6 days ahead. In the opening session of the seminar participated and addressed the participants on the issues relevant to the theme of the seminar - Director General of Canadian International Development Agency for Policy, Planning and Financial Services Catherine Bragg, First Secretary of Canadian Embassy in Almaty supervising issues of development in Central Asian countries Najeeb Mirza, Regional Adviser on Water - Energy Issues of US Agency for International Development (USAID) Craig Anderson, Chief of Party, Central Asia Natural Resources Management Project (USAID) Mike Biddison, Regional Director for Central Asia and Caucasus Office, International Water Management Institute in Tashkent Vilma Horinkova, Minister of Water Resources of Tajikistan, A. Nazirov, Chairman of Water resources Committee of the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan A. Ryabtsev, First Deputy of General Director of the Water Resources Management Department of the Kyrgyz Republic K.Beishikeev, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Water management of the Republic of Uzbekistan A. Nisnevitch, Honorary Member of the ICWC Prof., Nariman Kipshakbaev.
