From March 22 to 25, 2005 the workshop on "Establishing and functioning of WUAs" was held in the Training Centre of the ICWC. The workshop was organized under support of USAID/CAR and logistical support of START/AED program. The workshop gathered senior water management specialists, scientists and heads of WUAs as well as representatives of IWMI and WUASP/USAID.
The workshop opening session was mastered by Pulat Umarov, ICWC TC Director. Afterwards, SIC ICWC Director. Prof. Dukhovny addressed to workshop participants and talked about problems faced by WUAs and water users. He also congratulated with the International Day of freshwater. Then participants were introduced to the program content and structure of the workshop. The special questionnaire on evaluation of participants' knowledge on WUA matters was distributed among participants. Besides questionnaire the workshop materials and brochures on "How to establish water user associations", "GWP: Catalyst of reforms" and WUASP program were distributed to participants. At the end of first lecture the answers to questionnaires on WUA were collected and used for the evaluation.
